Muse Life Guide FAQs

What is Muse Life Guide?

Muse Life Guide is comprised of the trifecta of holistic wellness – Muse Life Coaching for the mind, Muse Nutrition for the body, and Muse Yoga for the spirit. The word “Muse” means to look inward, as opposed to always looking outward, for the power, strength, inspiration, validation, and resources to create a meaningful and beautiful life for ourselves.

What does the Muse dahlia flower logo mean?

We often look externally for validations as a measurement of our worth. But what if we looked within ourselves for the love, courage, and acceptance that we need to create the life that we want to live?

The Muse logo is a mandala in the shape of a blooming white dahlia flower. The Muse dahlia flower mandala represents an individual’s wholeness in relations to the universe, and their spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical journey and growth through time and space. The centre of the flower represents an individual’s core, and the blooming rings of petals surrounding the individual represents their flourishing journey. As they grow brighter, so does their positive reach and inspiration to others.

Muse chose the dahlia flower as its logo because it symbolizes inner strength, creativity, change, and sacred values, all of which are important attributes required for positive growth. Additionally, a white dahlia, such as in the case of the Muse logo, represents focused pure intentions, another important factor in positive change.

I believe we all have the capability and capacity within us to live the life we want. We just have to believe we can and are worthy enough to live that life.

Be your muse.

Who created Muse Life Guide?

Muse Life Guide was founded by Edmond T Cheng. Edmond’s passion is in working with people to discover their passions, and transform their potential into meaningful and tangible manifestations of their visions and values. His passion came after a life changing moment many years ago when he realized he was living his life for others than himself, which led him to question his own beliefs, identity, and values. What Edmond came to realize was that his whole life was made up of layers and layers of cultural, societal, and familial expectations of what it meant to be a man, of what it meant to be an Asian man, and of what it meant to be a gay Asian man. It came to a point where he wanted to live the life he’s always wanted to live, and that meant becoming his own man, his own sun, the author of his own story, and the master of his own universe. But in order for Edmond to be his own sun, he realized he had to be open and willing to the idea of self-discovery and to do the work required to fulfill his purposes in life. And once he said, ‘yes’ to the universe, ‘yes’ to his future, and ‘yes’ to himself, that was when the transformation began. And that was when Edmond turned his life long passion of helping people into transformational coaching and holistic nutrition consulting, and his 15+ years of yoga practice into yoga teaching.

Through Edmond’s journey of self-discovery, he experienced what it felt like to be mentally, physically, and spiritually aligned, which led him to want to bring that empowering experience to others through his work. When we are totally aligned, we are in the clearest mind, at our freest point, and at our high peak in that moment of our lives to make the most positively impactful decisions that serves our highest selves and our deepest values.

Edmond is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Associate Certified Coach (ACC); Erickson International Certified Neuro-Linguistics Programming (NLP) Practitioner; Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) that specializes in Hatha, Yin, Pain Care, Chair Yoga and Yoga Nidra; Institute of Holistic Nutrition (IHN) Certified Nutritional Practitioner (CNP), and a Canadian Association of Natural Nutritional Practitioners (CANNP) Natural Nutrition Clinical Practitioner (NNCP).

How is Muse different than other health and wellness companies?

Our collective holistic health and wellness approach empowers you to create the clarity and direction to live your most authentic and purposeful life. Unlike many wellness companies that focus on one or two areas of wellness, Muse focuses on all three areas of being of mind, body, and spirit. According to Edmond, “having experienced what total alignment of all three areas of being felt like, it was the most empowering experience ever because you are at your clearest mind to be able to see into the future of what your life can be if you just take the steps towards it.” And even if you only purchase one or two of the three available services, there will be principles of each wellness service incorporated into your sessions to encourage total alignment of your entire being.

Muse takes an inclusive, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach to coaching, nutrition, and yoga. Everyone is seen as whole and unbroken, behind every behaviour is a positive intention, that everyone is okay, and has the resources within them to make positive changes in their lives.

Muse Life Coaching FAQs

What is life coaching? And how is it different from counseling, psychiatry, and psychotherapy?

Coaching focuses on the present and future to propel you into the life you have always wanted to live, whereas counseling, psychiatry, and psychotherapy focuses on the present and past. Muse Life Coaching takes a neutral and solutions focused approach whereby you are guided through a series of deep belief changing vision exploration exercises, as well as powerful questioning techniques to integrate your sense of purpose and values in motivating and compelling ways to create powerful and attainable futures.

A good professional coach does not tell a client what to think, feel, believe, or do, nor does a coach give their personal opinions. Instead through the series of powerful deep questioning by the coach, it will allow you to relax into your sub-consciousness, which is where your deepest values and vision of yourself and your future resides. By tapping into your sub-consciousness, it will not only allow you to become resourceful, but it will enable you to connect your action steps that contributes to the life you want to live to the person who you are inside and the person you want to become.

Muse Life Coaching’s transformational coaching specializes in areas of identity and values exploration, personal development, lifestyle transitions, pivotal life moments, sexual orientation, self-love and relationships, and career transitions. Muse Yoga FAQs

What is yoga?

Yoga is a moving meditation. It has the power to transcend the physical being and touch the mental and emotional aspects of our lives. It creates space within us to work through whatever we need to work through; find gratitude in what we have; change our perspective on the world around us, and cultivate peace, strength and love in ourselves so that we can become more compassionate and empathetic.

What types of yoga is Muse specialized in?

Muse Yoga specializes in Hatha, Yin, Pain Care, Chair Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. The yoga package that is available for purchase is 3 months long. Each package comes with a weekly 60-minute private yoga lesson.

Muse Yoga specializes in Hatha, Yin, Pain Care, Chair yoga, and Yoga Nidra. Hatha is a sanskrit word meaning the union of the sun and moon as it is a balanced practice based on alignment of not only the physical body, but also of the mind and spirit. Though yoga is a physical practice, and is used by many as part of their overall physical well-being, yoga is actually a moving meditation that allows us to be in the present by calming our minds through breath, and surrendering to the moment through challenging poses so that we can, much like coaching, create the space within to discover our identity and values, and create powerful futures for ourselves.

Yin is an introspective yoga practice that’s slower, softer, and calmer than other styles of yoga such as hatha, which can be more dynamic and heat generating. Yin focuses on stillness and patience through mainly floor postures that are held for longer periods of time. The longer held postures allow students to surrender even more to the moment and go inwards even deeper to discover the physiological, mental, and emotional benefits of the practice.

Chair yoga is Hatha or Yin yoga but using a chair for stability, safety, and mobility. Most postures can be modified using a chair, as well as additional “yoga” postures that do not exist in traditional Hatha and Yin yoga. Chair yoga is suitable for almost everyone, especially individuals that are looking to (re)gain strength, stability, and mobility of certain areas of their bodies.

Pain Care yoga is a specialty yoga that focuses on supporting and guiding individuals that have chronic pain through using various yoga postures and props to increase mobility, and to change the perception and management of pain with the aim of creating greater enjoyment out of life.

Yoga Nidra is a form of mind-body therapy that consists of a systematic form of guided relaxation that often brings immediate emotional and mental benefits such as reduced stress, better sleep, and consistent mood. Improved emotional and mental states often lead to physical benefits such as lower inflammation, improved digestion, consistent energy, resiliency, and better weight management.

Yoga sessions are done in-person at a client’s home or a client’s location of choice as long as it is within the Vancouver, North Vancouver, and Richmond areas. It is the client’s responsibility to have yoga props that they would like to use as part of their practice.
